Quercetin-Bromelain supplies the flavonoid quercetin extracted from seed pods of the Dimorphandra mollis plant. Flavonoids are "semi-essential" nutrients found in many plants and foods. Bromelain is an enzyme complex derived from the pineapple stem. Quercetin modifies the body's response to antigenic substances, inhibits formation of free radicals and supports circulatory health by promoting integrity of tissues in small blood vessels. Bromelain supports tissue comfort and may enhance quercetin absorption.

Q. What is quercetin and what does it do?
A. Quercetin is part of a group of plant pigments known as flavonoids. Flavonoids are known as being responsible for the colors of many different fruits, flowers, and vegetables. Quercetin and other flavonoids for that matter are known to provide a variety of health-promoting benefits. Quercetin acts as antihistamines, which are very useful in reducing allergy symptoms. They also help reduce inflammation that is associated with different forms of arthritis. Quercetin also has a role as an antioxidant that helps combat free radicals, scavenging damaging particles that roam our body and derive from cigarette smoke, pollution, and others. They also occur naturally In the body and have the ability to damage cell membranes and can even cause certain medical conditions like cancer and heart disease. Quercetin and other antioxidants help neutralize these free radicals and may reduce or possibly even prevent the damage they can cause.

Q. What is the importance of Bromelain and how does it work?
A.Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme (capable of digesting protein) that is extracted from the pineapple stem. Bromelain’s most common application is in the treatment of inflammation and soft tissue injury. Bromelain inhibits prostaglandins (hormone-like compounds) that cause inflammation and promotes the formation of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. Bromelain is also helpful in breaking up hematomas, or a collection of blood that can sometimes occur as a result of soft tissue injury.

Q. Who should use Bromelain with Quercetin?
A.Bromelain with Quercetin contains specific nutrients that are useful for control of inflammation and reduction of swelling. The supplement is indicated for the inflammation, swelling & pain that often accompany a surgical procedure, injury, trauma or athletic event and chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis. Bromelain has also been shown to be useful for other conditions that involve inflammation including acne, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea and osteoarthritis.

Q. When do I start taking Bromelain with Quercetin? When do I stop taking Bromelain with Quercetin?
A.Bromelain should be taken 72 hours or 3 days prior to surgery. Bromelain should be continued for 7 days following surgery. Following trauma or injury, Bromelain should be started as quickly as possible and continued for 10 days.

Q. Why does Bromelain with Quercetin need to be taken on an empty stomach?
A.To ensure that the bromelain works on the site of injury and not in aiding digestion, it is best to not take the supplement on a full stomach.
