Pantethine is a highly absorbable and biologically active form of pantothenic acid (Vitamin B-5). Pantethine forms the reactive component of Coenzyme A (CoA) and the acyl-carrier protein (ACP). CoA and ACP are extensively involved in carbohydrate, lipid and amino acid metabolism. In addition to possessing the metabolic activity of pantothenic acid, Pantethine helps to support healthy serum lipid levels. Pantethine is also important for healthy cardiovascular function through its antioxidant activity.

Q. How does Pantethine work?
A. Pantethine might increase the concentrations of chemicals that lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

Q.What are the uses of Pantethine?
A.Lowering blood fats such as cholesterol and triglycerides, but only modestly. While not all research findings agree, taking pantethine might slightly lower triglycerides, total cholesterol, and “bad” low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol; as well as raise “good” high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Pantethine also appears to correct blood fat problems that often occur in kidney failure patients who are undergoing hemodialysis.

Q.What are the side effects of Pantethine?
A. Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the use of pantethine during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.
Bleeding disorders: There is some evidence that pantethine can slow blood clotting, so some healthcare providers worry that pantethine might increase the risk of severe bleeding in patients with bleeding disorders. If you have a bleeding disorder, get your healthcare provider’s advice before starting pantethine.
Surgery: Pantethine might slow blood clotting. There is a concern that it might increase the risk of extra bleeding during and after surgery. Stop using pantethine at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.
